William is a Computer Science major in the Turing Scholars and Dean’s Scholars program. He specifically wants to work with utilizing computer science to solve biological problems. In his free time, William enjoys watching anime and playing computer games.
Ashley HoffmanUndergraduate Research Assistant
Ashley is a first year biochemistry student with the Dean’s Scholars program. She is interested in learning more about bioinformatics and genetics through further research experience. In the future, she hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a career related to studying genetic diseases or cancer. Outside of classes and the lab, Ashley enjoys drawing or watercoloring, baking, and exploring Austin’s many coffee shops
Hosei NakajimaUndergraduate Research Assistant
Hosei was a UT undergraduate from Japan, interested in genetics and computer science. He is passionate about cooking, video games, and anime. Hosei currently works at Baylor College of Medicine in Dr. Rinki Ratnapriya’s lab.

Michael is from Houston, Texas and is currently a medical student in his home town in the EnMed program of Texas A&M. He recently graduated from UT with a degree in computer science! His research interests deal with the computational methods of ribosome profiling. In his spare time, Michael likes to strength train, cook, and watch movies.

Tori is currently a medical student. Her research focused on the development of ribosome profiling methods for unconventional samples: for example, ultra-low inputs and circulating cancer stem cells. Her current interests are in neonatology and public health. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing piano, boxing, and wakeboarding.

Brendan was a biology student interested in genetic diseases and computer science. His research in the lab focused on Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, a disease as intriguing as its name. When Brendan is not researching, he is either working out, cooking, or somewhere outside. He is currently a PhD student at Baylor College of Medicine.
